"Waves" is the tenth track on Kanye West's seventh album The Life of Pablo. The song features Chris Brown and Kid Cudi.

Originally recorded for Yeezus 2, Waves was then titled "Stand Up" and had a slightly different beat, sampling Enigma's "Return to Innocence".

In early 2016, the Waves album was renamed to The Life of Pablo and the title track was removed. It was then reworked by Chance The Rapper, who worked hard to get the track back on the album. He wrote the second verse for the song and added a choir as well. West later removed Chance's vocals along with the choir, opting for a more minimal arrangement instead. The new second verse was re-recorded by West and ultimately featured in the final track.

Chance played a preview of his version of Waves during an interview with Zane Lowe in May 2016.
